Question about the nature of Actions

Comments and questions related to the Enterprise Control Language

I'm confused about actions. Actions are required to instigate workunits, and each job must have at least one action. But the following code works, even though there isn't an action (the job runs, but there are no results tabs). How is this working?

Code: Select all
myVal := FALSE;
def := IF(myVal,OUTPUT('if'));
def;

Janet,

An Action is simply an expression for which you want to see the result. In your code, the Action is "def". You could have also done this to achieve the same result:
Code: Select all
myVal := FALSE;
IF(myVal,OUTPUT('if'));

Yes, that clarifies. Thank you.
