Can't access vm ecl watch or ping the adresss

Post questions or comments related to the Virtual Machine

Even though I have tried turning off the Windows firewall and avast anti-virus, I cannot access ecl watch on the virtual machine nor ping the address.
I have attached an image hppc_2.jpg) of the adapter settings (the same across all 4 adapters).
The other attached image (hppc_4.jpg) shows the vm address and the ping attempts.
This is all on my Windows 7, AMD 6 core 64 bit machine.

Hi Bill,

In the VM window, login using the hpccdemo username and password, then check the hpcc-init status to see if the cluster is actually running. I believe you would use:

sudo service hpcc-init status

Also, is this the first time you installed on this machine? The IP address might be out of sync (incorrect).

Regards,

Bob

I have this same issue when I'm running Cisco VPN. I see the VM guest running but I cannot connect to the ECL watch page unless I disconnect from the VPN.

Are you on a VPN?

yes, that's it! You can't run the HPCC VM while another VPN is connected.

No, this is when I am totally 'clean' - no VPN.

So far I have turned off everything:
Windows Firewall
Avast Anti-virus
Netgear router firewall.
Also, running the following from the command line on the linux side confirms that all services are running (sudo service hpcc-init status) See hpcc_status.jpg

Is the "DHCP Server" enabled? It is in "Preferences" -> "Network"-> "Host-only Networks" -> select the "Host-only Network" device you are using (Usually should be vbooxnet0)-> press the "Edit" -> check "DHCP Server" tab.

Alternatively you can try "Bridged Adapter" for "Adapter 2" if possible.

No DHCP tab under those settings, if I am looking in the right place.

The setting is not for each VM instance but for virtualbox.

Thanks - I checked and the DHCP is checked already.

I next tried setting adapter 2 to Bridged. That did not work either.

Can you display "sudo iptables --list" and "ifconfig eth1" from the VM?
Also can you ping 192.168.56.1 or 192.168.56.100 from your host system?
I still think either your host firewall or VM firewall block the traffic.

Also make sure when run ipconfig (assume on Windows) you can see
"VisualBox Host-Only Network:". For example,
Ethernet adapter VirtualBox Host-Only Network:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::9460:accd:5344:1513%18
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.56.25
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

Otherwise you need to fix the network at Windows (troubleshoot network, etc)
