Roxie ECL (Part 1) – Indexes and Queries

March 20, 9:00 am – March 21, 5:00 pm – Remote via Microsoft Teams

As we continue with a remote format, Part 1 classes will start on Monday at 9 AM, and will conclude on Tuesday by 5 PM. When enrolling, please note these times are different from our onsite schedule in the past. Your instructor will send you a welcome email with details on what you will need after enrolling and login information before the class begins.

This class is for developers who want to extend their knowledge of ECL to developing Roxie queries for end-user use. In this course, you will learn the benefits of payload indexes as well as use of the indexed joins that make query results fast. Anyone planning to write ECL code to provide final product data to end-users should attend this course.

Note: This course is the first in a two-part Roxie series. People who attend the Roxie ECL (Part 1) – Indexes and Queries class, should also attend the Roxie ECL (Part 2) – Complex Query Development. Both classes are presented in the same week.

Course Length: 2 days

Class Prerequisites: Students must have attended the Introduction to ECL (Part 1) – Concepts and Queries and the Introduction to ECL (Part 2) – the Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) Process. Students are welcome to bring their own laptops to take away the code and examples from the class.

  • Using FETCH
  • Creating Roxie Queries (STORED)
  • Testing queries in hThor
  • Deploying to Roxie
  • Payload Indexes
  • Full and Half-Keyed JOIN
  • Optimizing Queries (LIMIT, ATMOST, KEEP)
