LexisNexis Risk Solutions to Present on “Tomorrow’s Technologists” Code Camp Before the House Committee on Education and the Workforce

ATLANTA — LexisNexis Risk Solutions, a global data technology and advanced analytics leader, announced today that it is has been invited to participate in a House Education and the Workforce Committee showcase about innovations in education by U.S. Representative Karen Handel (GA-6) on Wednesday, July 25, at the Rayburn House Office building in Washington, D.C.

The presentation will spotlight “Tomorrow’s Technologists Powered by LexisNexis Risk Solutions” – a free coding and mentoring program that the company funded and hosted for 29 students at its headquarters in metro Atlanta. The program was executed in collaboration with the Technology Association of Georgia Education Collaborative ( TAG-Ed ) and Higher Ground Education. The curriculum offered:

  • Computer science fundamentals, including instruction covering five different programming languages, principles, big data and analytics;
  • Technology training and development;
  • Career planning;
  • Overview of digital citizenship;
  • Insightful sessions with industry professionals as subject matter experts;
  • Mentoring and access to senior LexisNexis Risk Solutions technology experts that continues after the program ends;
  • Laptops for all students who finished the program;
  • The opportunity to gain enhanced skills and confidence to prepare for future career pathways.

“Computer science is an integral part of educational programming to drive economic opportunity and social mobility for future and current members of the U.S. workforce,” said Rep. Handel. “LexisNexis Risk Solutions has joined the Technology Association of Georgia’s Education Collaborative and Higher Ground Education Inc. to develop a four-week camp to invest in tomorrow’s tech-minded students and give them a chance to prepare for high-skilled, in-demand jobs. It’s an honor to feature LexisNexis at the Committee on Education and the Workforce’s innovation forum to spread awareness of their initiative to strengthen STEM education efforts.”

The innovation forum and showcase recognizes outstanding education programs from across the country. The event consists of a segment with oral testimony before committee members, a question and answer period and a congressional showcase, where LexisNexis Risk Solutions will have the opportunity to answer questions from members of Congress, staff, and the public.

LexisNexis Risk Solutions is one of 25 presenters from across the United States that is presenting at the showcase. Kara Grady, vice president, LexisNexis Risk Solutions, said this camp teaches students about computer science fundamentals and big data while introducing them to five different computer-coding languages.
